India vs Sri Lanka: Only 2nd time ever that a side has completed a 9-0 whitewash

India’s tour of Sri Lanka may have been boring to someone due to its one-sidedness throughout but it also has helped India create some new records and memories that will be cherished. It has been only the second instance ever that a team has dominated like this, clean sweeping a series 9-0 in all three formats combined. The last time such whitewash happened, it was the turn of Australia to humiliate Pakistan 9-0 in the 2010 series down under.

To add to that, it is also the first time ever that an Indian cricket team has won all the matches across different formats in an overseas tour. Well, its impressive and will definitely boost the confidence of the current bunch of players in Indian cricket team.

This tour is also a step towards player rotation so that the best side is formed for the all important 2019 Cricket World Cup. There were some senior players including Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Ashwin, who had been given rest to try some of the other talent in the reserves. Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav did not disappoint the fans and now there seems to be a healthy competition in the team which is a step towards building a better side.
