World XI arrives in Lahore, amid tight security

For the first time in eight years, cricketers from the Test playing nation have stepped foot in Pakistan as cricketers from seven countries landed in Pakistan.

The World XI led by South Africa’s Faf du Plessis came to Lahore amid tight security, in order to revive international cricket in the country, the team will play a three-match T20 international series which will begin on September 12.

No team apart from Zimbabwe have toured Pakistan since 2009 terror attack on Sri Lanka cricket team bus in Lahore which left several players injured and killing other civilians.

However, players like Hashim Amla, David Miller among other will play in front of a crowd that hasn’t seen international cricket for a long time.

During the series, both the hotel and stadium will be out of bounds and around 10, 000 security personnel will be deployed. The shops and restaurants around the stadium will be closed as well.
