There have been many biopics made in India which describe the lives of influential sports personalities and their struggle to achieve success in life. But when a biopic is made on the life of one of the most popular female sportspersons in the country, young girls are definitely getting inspired and may change their mindset, starting to think of taking ‘sports as a career’.
Viacom18 Motion Pictures has acquired the rights for biopic on Mithali Raj, who is the highest run-scorer in women's international cricket and the only woman cricketer to surpass the 6,000 run-mark in ODIs.
"I am extremely happy on this association with Viacom18 Motion Pictures. Hoping that this movie inspires more people especially young girls to take up sports as a career," said Mithali Raj.
Although, Women’s cricket has got the much needed limelight after a long wait and it will be easier for some of the young aspiring girls who are interested in cricket or some other sport to convince their family and get the required facilities from the Government. But for someone like Mithali Raj, who led India to two World Cup finals (2005 and 2017), their would have been many challenges in her journey since Women’s cricket did not get the due importance in the past so many years.
