The confusion over player retention policy in the upcoming Indian Premier League auction continues there is no consensus among franchises on the number of players that can be retained in a squad.

In a crucial meeting between franchise owners and BCCI top brass, the owners were split between retaining as many as five players or surprisingly none but most agreed upon utilizing the right to match card option at the auction.

·         Rajasthan Royals have made a suggestion to do away with retention policy as well as Right to Match (RTM)

·         Kings XI Punjab wanted the retention policy to stay at two players.

·         Most of the other teams wanted anything between 3 to 5 (including retention and Right To Match) while salary cap will be raised from Rs 60               crore to Rs 75 crore.

Apart from that, the IPL has allowed Kings XI to play three of three home matches outside Chandigarh as long as the remaining four home games are played at their home base in Mohali.
