India’s star batter Harmanpreet Kaur will continue to ply her trade in Australia as she extended her contract with Women’s Big Bash League side Sydney Thunder for a further two years. India’s T20 captain signed for the Thunder ahead of last season, making her the first Indian male or female to play in Australia’s marquee T20 tournament.

Thunder general manager Lee Germon expressed how Harmanpreet was the hottest property following the World Cup. “Following the Women’s World Cup, Harmanpreet was the hottest property in cricket,” Germon said. “She showed during that tournament, and through her performances with the Thunder, that she is one of, if not the most, destructive batters in the game at the moment.”

Harmanpreet is one of the top players in women’s cricket and last season she scored 296 runs for Thunders at an average of 59.2 and a strike rate of 117, second highest scorer for the side. She was also chosen Thunder’s Player of the Tournament for her stellar show.
