IND vs SL: Sri Lanka crush India, snap 12 match losing streak

Cricket | Sunday | 10th December, 2017

Everyone expected India to beat Sri Lanka with real ease, but what unfolded in Dharamshala was completely shocking, even the bookies in their wildest dream wouldn’t have imagined such fantastic bowling performance the visitors and utterly rubbish batting performance from the host. Apart from MS Dhoni, everyone in Blue jersey was horrific.

Sri Lanka really wanted to snap their 12 matches losing streak and they did exactly, handing India an absolute drubbing, holding host to 112 runs and winning the match with seven wickets, ending the game with 176 balls remaining. This win marks Sri Lanka’s first ODI win in India after losing last 6 ODIs.

Rohit Sharma won't have fond memories regarding his ODI captaincy debut and will look respond to next two matches.

Suranga Lakmal, who bowled all his 10 overs in one go, finished with career-best figures of 4 for 13 to bowl India out for 112, despite a fighting half-century by MS Dhoni. In reply, Upul Tharanga's positive batting set the tone for Sri Lanka in the chase while Angelo Mathews and Niroshan Dickwella provided the finishing touches

Brief scores: India 112 in 38.2 overs (MS Dhoni 65, Kuldeep Yadav 19; Suranga Lakmal 4-13, Nuwan Pradeep 2-37) lost to Sri Lanka 114/3 in 20.4 overs (Upul Tharanga 49, Niroshan Dickwella 26*; Jasprit Bumrah 1-32) by 7 wickets.
