Stat-O-Facts: Hardik does Kapil Dev, Dhawan 4000 milestone

India once again reigns supreme as they convincingly defeated Sri Lanka to clinch the series 2-1. After losing the first ODI in Dharamshala, Rohit Sharma led side fought back marvellously and made sure India end the year on a good note.

This is India’s eight consecutive bilateral ODI series win. Their last defeat came in 2015-16 against Australia. During this period India have beaten Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe (3-0), New Zealand (3-2 and 2-1 at home), England (2-1 at home), West Indies in West Indies (3-1 in West Indies), Sri Lanka (5-0 in Sri Lanka and 2-1 at home), and Australia (4-1 at home).

With this win, India managed 14 bilateral series win at home in 16 since 2009. Their only defeat during this period has been against Pakistan in 2012-13 and South Africa in 2015-16.

Hardik Pandya is the second Indian to score 500 runs, take 30 wickets in ODIs in a single calendar year. The other player to do so was India great Kapil Dev, who scored 517 runs and took 32 wickets in 1986. Pandya managed 557 runs and picked up 31 wickets in 2017.

Shikhar Dhawan had a terrific year, the Gabbar of Indian cricket managed 4000 runs. He became the 15th Indian and 106th overall to the landmark.

Dhawan has 12 centuries in 2017, only six Indians have scored more ODI hundreds than him - Sachin Tendulkar (49), Virat Kohli (32), Sourav Ganguly (22), Rohit Sharma (16), Virender Sehwag (15), and Yuvraj Singh (14). Dhawan is tied with Rahul Dravid.
