Sachin Tendulkar to initiate debate in Rajya Sabha

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar is set to make his parliament debut as Master Blaster is expected to speak on the floor of Rajya Sabha later this afternoon. The nominated Member of Parliament has moved a Short Discussion Motion on the future of sports in India and right to play.

The cricket maestro is expected to put forward some long pending issues including coverage of Central Health Guarantee Scheme for international medal winners and incorporation of sports in school curriculum during the discussion.

Sachin so far had stayed away from Parliamentary duties and has been criticised for his lack of attendance. However, he seems to be clocking the runs outside the floor of the house using his Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds.

Tendulkar ranks top among the nominated members in Rajya Sabha has allocated nearly 98% of the total MPLAD funds of Rs 30 crores. Over 60% of the projects identified by Tendulkar have been completed.
