All-rounder Krunal Pandya on Saturday bagged a mega Indian Premier League deal after Mumbai Indians (MI) used their Right to Match (RTM) to retain him at the Player Auction on Saturday. Mumbai matched Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) bid of Rs 8.80 crore. Krunal is now the highest paid uncapped player in IPL history.
While English player Jofra Archer was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 7.2 crore. The 22-year-old has become one of the hottest T20 prospects in the world recently. His blistering pace with the ball and big hitting capabilities with the bat make him a valuable asset in the game’s shortest format.
Another uncapped Indian player to go big was Ishan Kishan. Kishan was bought for Rs 6.2 crore by Mumbai Indians. RCB and CSK also made a bid for him, but Mumbai finally edged out. His base price was only Rs 40 lakh.
It was a big day for uncapped players as most went for an average of 3 crores. From U-19 pacer Nagakoti to Siddharth Kaul, all were picked up for double their base price.
