Cricket | Sri Lanka Vs India 2017 | Thursday | 31st August, 2017

India inflicted more misery on Sri Lanka as they defeated the hosts by a huge margin of 168 runs in the fourth ODI at Colombo. Chasing a mammoth target of 376 runs, Sri Lanka made a poor start and had lost three wickets for a meagre 37 runs. Senior batsman, Angelo Mathews tried his best to bring the side back in to match but was eventually dismissed by Axar Patel after he managed to score 70 runs. Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav picked up 2 wickets each while debutant Shardul picked up one wicket, dismissing opener Dickwella.

Earlier, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma hammered the Sri Lanka bowlers all over the park. While Kohli smashed 131 runs off 96 balls, Sharma scored 104 runs off 88 balls. During his innings, Virat Kohli also scored his fastest half century ever, while Rohit Sharma continued his dream run scoring his second consecutive century. Sharma also became the first Indian to score back to back centuries against Sri Lanka.

MS Dhoni and Manish Pandey also made vital contributions in the end as India set up a massive 375 runs on the board and it proved to be too uch for the Si Lanka batsman in the end. In his 300th ODI, MS Dhoni remained not out on 49 runs as he achieved the world record of most not outs(73) in One Day International cricket.
