India humiliated the host once again, crushing them by seven wickets in the only T20I, Virat Kohli smashed a scintillating 82 while the spinners Chahal and youngster Kuldeep Yadav put breaks on the opposition during the Lankan innings.
With this win, Team India has handed the Lankan nine straight defeats, 3-0 in Tests, 5-0 in ODIs and 1-0 in T20. No touring team has ever dominated the host in such a drastic manner in the history of the game.
Batting first Sri Lanka posted a challenging 170 runs, India didn’t have the best start to the game as Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul fell early on. The momentum was on Sri Lankan side, bowlers were confident but when the master of chase Virat Kohli is still at the crease, the little momentum the Lankan had quickly evaporated.
Kohli along with in-form Manish Pandey put up a solid partnership to take the game away from Sri Lanka. The duo complemented each other very well, hitting boundaries and running between the wickets, the combination was just brilliant to watch.
Earlier, Sri Lanka threatened to amass a lot more but it was the contributions from Munaweera and Priyanjan that lifted them to a challenging total. Dilshan Munaweera smashed his maiden half-century while debutant Ashan played an important part to guide Sri Lanka to a respectable score.
