Team India is closing in on a series whitewash for the first time in Sri Lanka. At the close of play, Sri Lanka were trailing India by 333 runs with 9 wickets in hand. Kuldeep Yadav had been the pick of the bowlers as he clinched four crucial wickets to put Sri Lanka on the backfoot. Ashwin and Shami also chipped in with 2 wickets each as Sri lanka got bowled out for a meagre 135 runs. It is highly likely that India might not require to bat again and the game getting over on the 3rd day itself.

Just at the close of play, Sri Lanka lost opener Tharanga who was bowled by Umesh Yadav. Pushpakumara had been sent as the night watchman and he would be coming out to bat tomorrow alongwith Karunaratne. It will now need something extraodinary from the Sri Lankan batsman to save this test match from here.

Earlier in the day, Hardik Pandya impressed everyone with a blistering century off just 86 balls to take India to an imposing score of 487 runs. Pandya even scored the most runs in an over by an Indian in test match cricket as he hammered Pushpakumara all over the ground.
