Arsenal fan look away, Liverpool place club record £55m for Arsenal target

Liverpool are attempting to snap Arsenal’s long term target Thomas Lemar as the Reds have placed a club record 55 million pound. It is understood that the 21-year-old French international is keen on a move to Anfield and is currently waiting to see if his parent club Monaco agree to sell after they struck an agreement to send talent youngster Kylian Mbappe to Paris Saint Germain on Sunday.

Earlier this week Arsenal manager stated that Monaco closed the door for the sale of Thomas Lemar as they had few bids rejected but Liverpool’s move indicates that the French club are willing to negotiate for the right price.

Arsenal's under-fire manager claimed Monaco were refusing to do business due to Mbappe and Fabinho's likely move to Paris Saint-Germain, which would signify their fourth and fifth major departure of the summer.

Arsenal's third and supposedly final offer for Lemar was worth £50m but Liverpool are hoping to beat their rivals with a bid that exceeds their valuation by almost £5m.

The move would smash their current transfer record which was broken earlier this summer with the 39 million pound arrival of Mohamed Salah from Italian outfit Roma.

The French international can play anywhere across the frontline, versatile but plays predominantly on the left and is highly rated.

However, just because Liverpool placed an official bid does not mean that Monaco are willing to let another star performer leave this season.
