The English Premier League announced it had cancelled overseas broadcast contract due to dispute with Chinese partner (Suning Holding).  The Suning Holding Broadcaster is controlled by China’s richest man Suning failed to pay the league $200 million in March. In the first year of record the three year agreement is worth more than $700 million.

China was holding the most lucrative overseas television right. This is the most watched premier league and it was already required to pay million to television companies. Coronavirus caused major disruption which caused financial damage and forced to play without spectator. Stream of lucrative business or revenue had been cut.

Relation between UK & China seems strained Huawei was blocked from Britain 5G network due to security concern. The reason seems more financial rather than political.
