Battle for suprmecy: Neymar demands PSG sell Cavani

When Neymar forced his move to French side Paris Saint Germain, the main motive behind the switch was to become the main man and to get out of Messi’s shadow but things aren’t going according to plan.

When a club splash 198 million pounds, the player evidently feels he should be treated as the primary attacking weapon or that’s what Neymar feels but PSG is a club that has top players and one of them is Cavani, who has established himself as a fan favourite for Unai Emery’s side having spent four years with them.

Before Neymar’s blockbuster arrival, Cavani was the top dog and it seems he still feel the same way, he was/is team’s penalty and free kick taker but now the Brazilian wants to take charge which was evident in the PSG’s last match against Lyon. The duo argued who would take the penalty, Cavani was adamant he would take a penalty which he subsequently missed and Neymar was visibly annoyed as his team-mate refused to cede his spot-kick duties. Dani Alves earlier took the ball off Cavani and gave it to Neymar so he could take a free-kick.

The duo continued to lock horns after the final whistle and had to be separated by team-mates in the dressing room as the row continued. It seems things have become very serious as Neymar has demanded that PSG sell team-mate and forward partner Edison Cavani. The Brazilian views the on-pitch relation with Cavani as impossible following their dispute.

Now the pressure is on the PSG owners, who now have a decision to make as he attempts to smooth over the relationship between the world record signing and one of their established stars. Whether the club appeases their new superstar with the sale of Cavani in the next transfer window or attempt to find an amicable solution remains to be seen.
