CL Roundup: Kurzawa hat-trick hero, Chelsea thumped by Roma

The Champions League is full of surprises as PSG left-back Kurzawa scored an unlikely hat-trick as the French giant powered into the last 16 of the Champions League with a 5-0 hammering of Belgium side Anderlecht. PSG top their group with a maximum 12 points while Bayern also progressed alongside them following a 2-1 victory against Celtics.

English giant Manchester United also made to through the knockout stage after defeating Benfica 2-0 at Old Trafford. They are unbeaten in the Europe’s elite competition with four wins in four games.

But for Premier League Champion it was a night to forget as they were schooled by Italian side Roma, handing them 3-0 and spoiling their chances to secure a berth in the knockout stages. Atletico Madrid -- finalists twice in the past four seasons -- are heading for elimination following a 1-1 draw at home to Qarabag.

Journeyman Spaniard Michel headed the Azerbaijani champions in front from a corner, and while Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey hammered in an equaliser, Diego Simeone's side must now beat both Chelsea and Roma and hope other results work in their favour.

In Group D Barcelona and Messi were frustrated in a goalless stalemate with Olympiakos in Greece, while Juventus salvaged a 1-1 draw at Sporting Lisbon after Higuain levelled late. Barcelona remains top of their group while last year’s runners-up Juve are three points behind.
