Referee kicking a footballer in professional football is something which we never see, especially in top European leagues but last night during a match between Nantes and Paris Saint Germain, a French referee astonishingly kicked out a Nates defender Diego Carlos and sent him off for second bookable offence after he accidentally tripped him up.

The incident occurred in the dying moment of the match, Carlos was desperately tracking to prevent PSG from scoring as they launched a counter-attack and while doing so the 24-year-old inadvertently collided with the referee.

What happened next was shocking, the referee Tony Chapron, retaliated by kicking back at the player as he got back to his feet before brandishing a second card followed by a red. That was not the end, the referee then for some weird reason awarded PSG a free-kick.
