The tournament favourites India continued their superb form in the on-going Asia Cup 2017 as they defeated arch-rival Pakistan to book their place in the finals. The free-flowing attacking prowess of India was evident from the get-go as they smashed four goals and ensured the top spot in Super 4s for India.

The sixth-ranked India, who just needed a draw to seal a place in the summit clash, produced a superlative performance after the change of ends to pump in four goals --three field strikes and one through a penalty corner.

Pakistan started the match on the attack as they won three penalty corner but failed to convert any which cost them dearly, and as the match went on India started playing better, they looked organized and eventually got better of Pakistani defence in the final quarters.

It was India’s fourth win over Pakistan this year, once in the group stage and twice in the Hockey World League semis in London. This is for the seventh time that India made it to the Asia Cup final. The final will be played on Sunday, October 22 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
