India claims the bronze medal against short-handed Germany side after they lost five players to illness and injuries in the Hockey World League. Depleted and spirited Germany put up a great fight but India eventually edged out a close 2-1 win.

India was lacklustre and had it been a full strength Germany side the outcome would have been different but the host managed to scrape through. India had also won the bronze in the last edition of the tournament in Raipur in 2015.

While World champions Australia defeated Olympic champions Argentina 2-1 in a hard-fought summit clash to defend the Hockey World League Final. It was a fitting end to the eight-nation tournament which witnessed a keen battle between world’s best two teams.
