PKL 2017: Puneri Paltans beat U Mumba, Thalaivas surprise Patna Pirates

Tamil Thalaivas produced a terrific first-half performance to beat Patna Pirates 40-37 in a Pro Kabaddi League Season 5 match. Pardeep Narwal scored 20 points for Patna Pirates but his effort went in vain. Ajay Thakur scored 14 points for Tamil Thalaivas and made crucial raids for his team. Despite loss Patna Pirates have qualified for the playoffs, they are second in the table whereas Tamil Thalaivas are second last with just 46 points in 22 matches.

In a lop-sided match at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex on Saturday, Puneri Paltans got the better of U Mumba 43-24. Pune outdid U Mumba in every department of the game, be it offence, or defence, as captain Deepak Hooda finished with 15 raid points and defender Girish Maruti Ernak scored 8 tackle points in the win. Puneri Paltans booked their place for the super playoff with 13 wins from 18 matches while U Mumba are 4th in the table with 56 points in 22 matches.
