Eight Members Of Indian Boxing Squad In Turkey Infected With Covid-19

Eight members of the Indian boxing team, including three boxers, who are currently in Turkey to participate in the Bosphorus tournament, have tested positive for Covid-19 and are under isolation in Istanbul.

Commonwealth Games silver medalists Gaurav Solanki (57 kg), Prayag Chauhan (75 kg) and Brijesh Yadav (81 kg) were found positive for the virus a week ago, due to this, they're still quarantined in Istanbul; even after the competition ended on 19 March.

The Indian team went to Istanbul for participating in the Bosphorus tournament. Gaurav Solanki won the only bronze medal in the Men's category, while Nikhat Zarine (51) won a bronze medal among women. India won a total of two medals in the competition.

Other male boxers on this tour included Lalit Prasad (52 kg), Shiva Thapa (63 kg), Duryodhan Singh Negi (69 kg), Naman Tanwar (91 kg) and Krishnan Sharma (over 91 kg).

The women's team featured Zareen, Sonia Lather (57kg), Parveen (60kg), Jyoti Grewal (69kg) and Pooja Saini (75kg).


Those who have been tested positive will have to stay in Instanbul for the next one week. Later, they will be tested again for Covid-19.
