Tokyo Olympics 2021: Indian Sailing team reaches Tokyo, can they win their first Olympic medal?

The Indian sailing team reached Tokyo to participate in the Olympics. They are the first batch of Indian athletes to reach Japan. The sailing team of Varun Thakkar, KC Ganapathy, Vishnu Saravanan and Nethra Kumanan reached Tokyo with their coaches. The Sports Authority of India shared pictures of these athletes on social media after they landed at Haneda airport. Medal hopes are high from the Indian team in sailing this time. India has never won an Olympic medal in a sailing event so far.

In a first, a record four sailors will represent India at the Tokyo Olympic Games. India for the very first is fielding sailors for three different events. The sailing competition starts on July 25.

However, India has had a great performance in sailing in the Asian Games. India won a total of 23 medals including 2 gold in the Asiad. Looking at this performance of India, it can be said that the sailing team will give India a medal this time. Sailing coach Ismail Baig is also expecting a medal from this time in Tokyo Olympics 2021. India participated in sailing for the first time in the Sydney Olympics.

Talking about the Olympics, Dattu Bhokanal of India finished 13th in the men's singles event at the Rio Olympics. It was India's best-ever performance in the Olympics. Ismail Baig was India's coach at the time when India participated in the Olympics for the first time in the Sydney Olympics 2000. Under his leadership, India has performed brilliantly in the Asian Games.
