Indian Archery Mixed team of Deepika, Pravin defeated by Korean pair

India Archery team started its campaign in the Tokyo Olympics from Day 1 on July 23. World No.1 recurve archer India's Deepika Kumari finished ninth in the women's ranking round at the Tokyo Olympics on Friday.

India's medal hopes in Archery's Mixed Doubles are over. India's pair of Deepika Kumari and Praveen lost to the Korean pair in the quarter-finals. The Korean pair defeated the Indian pair 6-2. Earlier, in the Round of 16, the Indian pair had secured a quarter-final berth by defeating Chinese Taipei.

The pair of Korean archers, who reached the quarter-finals after defeating the Bangladesi pair in the round of 16, maintained their lead from the beginning of the match.

The Korean pair went 4-2 ahead in the match, from which Deepika and Praveen could not recover from the pressure. Praveen Jadhav also missed the target under the same pressure, due to which it was not easy to make a comeback in the match.

Apart from this, India's star shooter Sourav Chaudhary performed brilliantly and made it to the final by securing the top position in the qualification round. Today, the Indian men's hockey team also performed brilliantly by defeating New Zealand 3-2 and started with a win.
