India's medal hopes have suffered a major setback in the archery event of the Tokyo Olympics. India's men's team is out after losing the quarterfinal match. They suffered a crushing 6-0 defeat at the hands of the Korean archers in the quarter-finals. They failed to register a single arrow on the exact target. On the other hand, the Koreans were constantly breaking the spirits of the Indian archers with their perfect 10.
The Indian Archery team started with a win today. The team of Atanu Das, Tarundeep Rai and Praveen Jadhav defeated Kazakhstan to reach the quarter-finals. The Indian trio defeated Kazakhstan's Ilfat Abdullin, Denis Gankin and Sainzar Musayev 55-54, 52-51, 56-57, 55-54.
Earlier, India's mixed double pair of Deepika Kumari and Praveen lost to the Korean pair in the quarter-finals. The Korean pair defeated the Indian pair 6-2. Earlier, in the Round of 16, the Indian pair had secured a quarter-final berth by defeating Chinese Taipei.
The pair of Korean archers, who reached the quarter-finals after defeating the Bangladesi pair in the round of 16, maintained their lead from the beginning of the match.
