India women's hockey team loses 0-2 to Germany, second consecutive defeat at Tokyo 2020

The Indian women's hockey team suffered a crushing defeat against Germany in the second match of Pull I. This is the second consecutive defeat of the Indian team in the Tokyo Olympics. Earlier in the first match, Netherlands defeated Team India 5-1.

Shortly after the start of today's game in the 12th minute, world number three Germany scored a penalty corner in the first half to take a 1-0 lead. Captain Niki Lorenz scored in the goal. In the second half, neither team could score a goal.

However, at the beginning of the third quarter, Germany put India under complete pressure by scoring another goal. Germany's goal was scored by Anne Schröder in the 35th minute.

India had an equal chance in the third quarter but initially, they missed a penalty corner. Meanwhile, Indian captain Rani Rampal asked for a penalty stroke but Gurjit Kaur could not put the ball in the goal. The German goalkeeper stopped the ball with ease.

India also got many opportunities but the Indian team failed to capitalize on them. India will face Britain on Wednesday.
