Tokyo 2020: Shooter Manu Bhaker, Rahi Sarnobat ranked 5th, 25th in 25m air pistol qualifiers

The first qualifier match of 25m air pistol in women's shooting was played on Thursday. Indian shooter Manu Bhaker performed well in the qualifiers to finish fifth. She secured 292 marks out of 300. The second round of this event will be held on 30 July (Friday). The shooters in the top 8 in both rounds will be given a place in the final. Another Indian shooter Rahi Sarnobat finished 25th with 287 points in the precision round.

Manu scored 292 after 30 marks in the precision round of qualification among 44 participants at the Asaka Shooting Range while her compatriot Rahi could only manage 287. The second stage of the qualification rapid round will be held on Friday.

Serbia's Zorana Arunovic is leading the way with 296 points, while Greece's Ana Korakaki is second with 294 points. Nineteen-year-old Indian shooter Manu started with 97 points in the first two series and then rose to the top five in the third series, scoring eight times with 10 points and nine points twice.

Manu made a comeback in the second series as well, collecting 10 points on the last five marks. Osiek World Cup gold medalist Rahi started the preseason round with 96 points in the first series and then 97 points. In the final series, she could collect 94 points with eight and then some nine points. She was ranked seventh among the top 10 shooters with 287 points.

Manu Bhaker had disappointed in the 10-meter air pistol event. Even in the mixed doubles event, Manu Bhaker could not live up to the expectations.
