Tokyo 2020: India's PV Sindhu storms into semi-finals by beating Japan's Yamaguchi in straight sets

India's women's badminton star PV Sindhu has easily won her quarter-final match. No. 6 seed Sindhu won the match against No. 4 seed Yamaguchi of Japan in straight games. Sindhu defeated Japan's Akane Yamaguchi 21-13, 22-20 in straight games. She has reached the semi-finals of the singles event of women's badminton with this big win.

PV Sindhu won the first game 21-13 in just 23 minutes. Sindhu started slow. The points between the two shuttlers were at one point at 6-6. Sindhu came in her form and won the first game on his own, leaving Yamaguchi shocked. The second game between the two players lasted 33 minutes, in which Japan's Yamaguchi tried hard to take the match back to the third game but she failed and lost the game 22-20. In this way, PV Sindhu defeated Yamaguchi in a match that lasted 56 minutes.

Sindhu troubled Yamaguchi by running across the court with her varied shots and ability to change pace.

If she wins another match, her medal will be confirmed. In such a situation, she will become the first player from India to win two medals in badminton.

PV Sindhu will face either Tai Tzu Ying or Ratnachok Intanon in the semi-finals. The fourth quarter-final of this event is to be held between Tai Tzu of Taiwan and Intanon of Thailand. Only the player who wins this match will clash with PV Sindhu.
