Dahiya secured his silver medal by winning the semi-finals while giving India a fourth medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Dahiya is the second Indian player after Sushil Kumar to win a silver medal in wrestling.
Ravi Dahiya defeated Bulgaria's Georgi Valentinov Vengelov 14-4 after defeating Colombia's Tigueros Urbano Oscar Edwardo 13-2 in the first round. In such a situation, he was considered a strong contender for entry in the final match.
