India's wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya assured another medal for India by defeating Kazakhstan's Nurislam Sanayev in the semi-final bout of wrestling men's freestyle 57kg, while another wrestler Deepak Poonia (86) kg) lost to David Morris Taylor of America in the semi-finals.

Poonia had no answer to Taylor's technical proficiency. He could make only one move on the counter-attack but Taylor did not let him take the point.

Deepak Poonia took full advantage of an easy draw to beat Nigeria's Akrekeme Egiomor, who is the bronze medalist of the African Championship, in the first round. In the quarterfinals, he defeated Jushen Lin of China 6-3.

However, Poonia still has a chance to win a bronze medal. The wrestlers who win the semi-finals compete for the gold in wrestling. Whereas the wrestler who loses the semi-finals has to enter the repechage round for the bronze medal. In the repechage round, all those wrestlers take part, who have lost to the wrestler who reached the final.
