Indian men's hockey ends 41-year long medal drought, defeats Germany 5 -4 in bronze medal match

The Indian Hockey team has won a medal in the Olympics after 41 years. India defeated Germany in the bronze medal match at the Tokyo Olympics. India made a strong comeback from the start in the match to win the match 5-4 against Germany. Before this, the last time Team India won the Olympic medal in hockey was in 1980.

This is India's 12th Olympic medal in hockey. India has earlier won eight gold, one silver and two bronze Olympic medals in hockey. The Indian team bounced back after going 0-1 in the first quarter. In the semi-final match, the Indian team did better in this match, taking lessons from the mistakes made against Belgium. Simranjit Singh scored two goals for India, while Harmanpreet Singh, Hardik Singh and Rupinder Pal Singh scored one goal each.
