Indian wrestler Ravi Dahiya has won silver medal in 57 kg weight category. However, he could not win the gold medal and missed out on creating history. In the final match, Russian wrestler Javur Ugaev defeated him.

Ravi Dahiya reached the final after defeating NurIslam Sanayev of Kazakhstan. He came into limelight after qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics by winning a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championship in Ravi Dahiya Nur Sultan.

Dahiya had said after the semi-final win that I should not have given Sanayev a chance to take that much lead. I'm not happy about it. He said that I have defeated him twice before, so I knew that I could come back even after falling behind. It was a close match and I shouldn't have lost the lead. He said that my work is not done yet. I have come here with a goal and it is still incomplete.

Sushil Kumar was the only Indian to reach the finals of Olympic wrestling before Dahiya, the son of a farmer from Haryana, who won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

In the opening minutes of the match, Javur Ugeev attacked and took 4 points, while Dahiya came back and took 2 points. After this Ravi Kumar Dahiya kept trying and stole 2 points. Russian wrestler Javur Yugaev leads 7-4 and won.
