Top seed Rafael Nadal moved on the semi-final of the US Open after straight sets win against teenage sensation Andrey Rublev. The world no.1 saw off 19-year-old Rublev 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 in one hour and 37 minutes under the Arthur Ashe Stadium roof.

Nadal, who was a bit rusty in the first two rounds finally picked up momentum as the important stage of the match, winning the past two matches without dropping a single set. Rublev was the youngest since Andy Roddick in 2001 to reach the last eight but he was overwhelmed by the world number one.

After Nadal’s victory, tennis fans were hoping for Nadal-Federer semi-finals at the US Open but Swiss was stunned by Juan Martin del Potro in four sets to reach the semis.

The 24th seed won 7-5 3-6 7-6 6-4 to reach the last four, Del Potro's victory means Federer and Nadal will end another year having never played each other at the US Open.
