After a torrid start to the home leg, U Mumba finished with two consecutive victories. They defeated Jaipur Pink Panthers 36-32 in last home game and moved up to no. 2 in Zone A as Kashiling Adake top scored for the Mumbai team with 10 points. The champions of season 2 had been struggling initially, trailing 9-14 , but then Anup Kumar and Surinder Singh scored crucial points to bring Mumba back into the match.

In another match, Telugu Titans defeated Tamil Thalaivas 33-28 as Sombir turned out to be the star performer for Titans, scoring 8 raid points. Both these contests were the final matches for the Mumbai leg of Pro Kabaddi league season 5. “Sombir did what raiders do. He got a Super 10 through tackle points. Players struggle to get High fives and this guy scored twice of that. He is a big part of this win,” said Rahul Chaudhari after the match.
The Kolkata leg of the Pro Kabaddi League 2017 begins from 1st September.
