US Open: Maria Sharapova continues winning run
In her first major grand slam since her comeback, Maria Sharapova has been impressing everyone with her spirited effort, with most recent win against Sofia Kenin of America to reach the quarterfinals.
Maria Sharapova is on a roll in her first grand slam after being on exile from tennis due to a 15-month doping ban. She has defeated US teen Sofia Kenin on Friday to reach the quarterfinals and now is also being counted among the favourites to win the Women’s singles title. Earlier, she opened the US Open against world No. 2 Simona Halep, and won in three sets, her first U.S Open win since the 2014 US Open. In second round she defeated Timea Babos, coming from a set down to win in three.

"We had never faced each other and she came out having nothing to lose and it's always dangerous so I'm happy I went through," said Sharapova.
“I’ve played a lot of tennis in the last couple of days,” she agreed. “I just wanted to be the fittest player out there today and I was. Now it’s one day at a time,” she added.
