AGRA: Seven people of a family, including four children, related to the former Mainpuri city president of Samajwadi party Hazi Umar Siddiqui , were killed and three others were critically injured when the Scorpio SUV they were travelling in collided with a stray animal on Lucknow Express Highway near Kannauj on Monday afternoon.Talking to TOI, a relative of Siddiqui, Nadeem Siddiqui, said ten people were travelling in the vehicle when the mishap occurred. He said the family was going to village Bachhna in Bilhaur (Kanpur) for attending a wedding.He said according to information received by then, a stray animal jumped the fence and collided with the vehicle near Thathiya village (Kannauj). He said the condition of the three people including 8 year old girl who have survived the accident is critical and they have not yet given any statement.Those who killed were identified as Irshad Siddiqui (38), his wife Anjum (35), their two sons- Shadab (20) and Aahad (16) and nieces, Aksha (3) Amza (5) and Juviya (16). The parents of the three deceased girls', Aarif (35) and his wife Tabbasum (33) and daughters Mehak (8) was critically injured in the mishap. According to information, Irshad was driving Scorpio.Talking to TOI, SP Kannauj, Dinesh Kumar said prima facie over speeding was the reason of the accident. He said none of the survivors are in a condition of giving a statement.Incidentally last November, Principal Secretary and CEO of Uttar Pradesh expressways industrial development authority Navneet Sehgal was critically injured along with four others in a head on collision on this very highway.
