January 30, 1948: Assassination of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi on January 30, 1948, had shocked the entire nation. Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on 30 January 1948 in the compound of Birla House (now Gandhi Smriti), by Nathuram Vinayak Godse.

Hyderabad State also known as Hyderabad Deccan was an Indian princely state located in the south-central region of India with its capital at the city of Hyderabad. The state was ruled from 1724 until 1948 by a hereditary Nizam who was initially a Mughal governor of the Deccan before becoming independent. Hyderabad became the first princely state to come under British paramountcy signing a subsidiary alliance agreement.
