First Plan (1951–1956) The first Indian Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru presented the First Five-Year Plan to the Parliament of India and needed urgent attention. The First Five-year Plan was launched in 1951 which mainly focused on the development of the primary sector.

The 1951 Asiad were originally scheduled to be held in 1950 but postponed until 1951 due to delays in preparations. On 13 February 1949, the Asian Games Federation was formally established in Delhi, with Delhi unanimously announced as the first host city of the Asian Games.

The formal title of the amendment is the Constitution (First Amendment) Act, 1951. It was moved by the then Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, on 10 May 1951 and enacted by Parliament on 18 June 1951. India's Constitution has been amended over a hundred times since 1951.

November 5. 1951: Central Railway is one of the 16 zones of Indian Railways. Its headquarters is in Mumbai at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. The railway zone was formed on 5 November 1951 by grouping several government-owned railways, including the Great Indian Peninsula Railways, the Scindia State Railway of the former princely state of Gwalior, Nizam State Railways, Wardha Coal State Railway and the Dholpur Railways.

The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur or IIT KGP) is a public engineering institution established by the government of India in 1951. It is the first of the IITs to be established and is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. IIT Kharagpur has an 8.5 square kilometers (2,100 acres) campus is residence to about 22,000 inhabitants.
