On July 15th 1955, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, was awarded the Bharat Ratna (India’s highest civilian honour) by then President Rajendra Prasad. Nehru invested a lot of his energy into the emancipation of children and the youth. Jawaharlal Nehru played a great role in moulding the policies and ideology of the Congress party and till today remains a popular icon of the party.

Devdas is a 1955 Indian Drama movie directed by Bimal Roy, based on the Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay novel, Devdas. The film had Dilip Kumar in title role, Vyjayanthimala in her first dramatic role where she played as Chandramukhi, hooker with a heart of gold and Suchitra Sen in her Bollywood debut as Parvati in the lead.
Pather Panchali: The first film of Satyajit Ray which is still regarded as one of the landmark cinema in the Indian Cinema. The film had found special mention due to its various cinematic, technical intriductions. The first film in the Apu trilogy, Pather Panchali depicts the childhood of the protagonist Apu and his elder sister Durga and the harsh village life of their poor family.
