PUNE: The city continued to simmer on Saturday with maximum temperature hitting 40.8°C, highest for March since 1953 when it had soared to 41.1°C.The Saturday’s high was recorded both at Shivajinagar and Lohegaon, and was 0.4°C more than the Friday’s maximum temperature of 40.4°C. “No weather systems and dry weather are causing clear skies, aiding bright sunshine to reach the earth surface directly. Combine this with hot winds from the north and heat conditions will intensify,” he said. An anticyclone near south Pakistan is causing the winds to turn clockwise. The winds entering into Maharashtra are coming from hot regions like south Rajasthan and southwest MP,” Palawat said.He said central India and adjoining regions have heated up off late with the advent of summer..
