Bharathidasan University halts bid by college to revive UG course

“As some students showed interest in joining the course, we decided to go ahead with admissions. However, the college started accepting applications this year and decided to go ahead with admissions.Defending the move, principal of Bharathidasan University Constituent Arts And Science College, Inamkulathur, N Rajaram, said, “A course gets cancelled only if there are no students for three successive years. We have instructed the college to stop admissions,” said P Manisankar, vice-chancellor, Bharathidasan University.The government has categorically stated that there should not be addition of any new courses or faculty members.Students were not admitted to the BA public administration course last year owing to lack of patronage. Since only last year there were no students and the department was still functioning with final year students, we decided to revive the course.”On asked why he did not inform the university on reviving the course, he said he was not starting any new course in the college but only reviving the existing one which had no takers last year.
