Canadian International School providing scholarship to pursue IB-IGCSE curriculum

Summary:

The scholarship programme is available to all new applicants to CIS for grade 9 (IGCSE) and grade 11 (IB).


The Canadian International School, Bangalore (CISB) in order to attract the strongest candidates who might not otherwise be able to avail of a CIS education has announced scholarships in the IB and IGCSE for the August 2018 academic batch.

The scholarship programme is available to all new applicants to CIS for grade 9 (IGCSE) and grade 11 (IB).

IB or International Baccalaureate is an internationally accepted board which offers three programmes to the children who choose to trust their future with IB :

i. PYP: The Primary Years Programme (Kindergarten to Class 5). 
ii. MYP: The Middle Years Programme (Class 6 to Class 10). 
iii. DP: The Diploma Programme (Class 11 to Class 12).

IGCSE: It is the most famously recognized International curriculum for Class 9 and 10. It is equivalent to the class 10 examination of CBSE or ICSE. Although a person qualified from IGCSE is eligible to sit on any other board for higher education. It is known to act as a precursor to the IB curriculum.

Eligibility criteria:

The CIS Scholarship programme is available to all new applicants to CIS for Grade 9 (IGCSE) and Grade 11 (IB). Candidate must have a minimum 80 percent in previous grade or equivalent for the IB program. For the IGCSE program, the candidate must have a minimum 85 percent in previous grade or equivalent.

The decision on minimum equivalent grade for students coming from different grading system rests solely with CIS Scholarship Committee.

Selection factors will also include:

Statement of need
Evidence of academic excellence
Leadership qualities
Significant artistic or athletic achievement
Civic involvement/volunteerism
Engagement in school activities
Students whose fees are paid by parents` companies cannot be considered for the Scholarship Programme.

Selection process

Applications will be initially screened for eligibility
Eligible candidates will be notified on Monday, January 29, 2018 for both the IGCSE and IB scholarship
Those candidates will then be required to appear for a written test in English, Mathematics and any one Science of  the applicant`s choice
Candidates will also appear for an interview with the committee on the same day
Decisions on awarding of Scholarships will be based upon the following weighting: 80 percent for tests and 20 percent for interview
Awarding of scholarship does not guarantee enrollment. Students must complete all admission formalities before enrolment and scholarship can be confirmed
The decisions of the CIS Scholarship Committee are final

Duration of test: 3 hours
