AICTE announces scholarship for differently abled students

Summary:

AICTE also provides with Post Matric Scholarship to support students with disabilities for their study in classes IX and X onwards.

 


All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) will aid 1000 differently-abled students who want to pursue technical education. With this special initiative young especially abled students will get the opportunity of pursuing a professional course to be eligible for a decent career and a dignified future. The students who are pursuing graduation course under AICTE are eligible for the course.

The last date to submit application is November 30.

According to Census 2011, there were 2.68 crore persons with disabilities in India who constituted 2.22 per cent of the total population. This includes persons with visual, hearing, speech, loco-motor, mental retardation and other disabilities.

Eligibility criteria:

Interested candidates must be in the 1st year of any diploma or degree course recognized by AICTE
Further, the family income must be less than 8 lakh per annum
For this scholarship, specially-abled students with 40 per cent disability can apply
Reward:

All the selected candidates will get up to Rs 30,000 as tuition fee and Rs 2,000 per month for 10 months as contingency allowance.

Further, Rs 30,000 will also be given for the purchase of books, equipment, software, laptop, desktop, vehicle, fee paid towards competitive examination applications form, exam, specific equipment, software`s for visually impaired, speech and hearing disabled.

AICTE also provides with Post Matric Scholarship to support students with disabilities for their study in classes IX and X onwards.
