Vadodara: Will the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) forgo one of its major criteria for contesting elections? The Committee of Administrators (CoA) has written to the BCA suggesting deletion of election rule 6 (5) (h) that has been proposed by the association in its amended constitution. BCA has been asked to respond to the email at the earliest. There are other minor changes proposed by the CoA but our proposal of keeping the BCA secretaries and treasurer as final signing authority has been accepted,” the official added. “The CoA has proposed that this entire criteria should be deleted which means that any BCA member without having experience of any sub-committee would be able to contest for the office-bearer’s post,” a BCA official said.“The CoA’s proposal will be discussed in the managing committee and then the BCA may write to them again. The CoA in the email dated November 3 has also asked what steps BCA has taken to separate membership of any social club that is part of the association from its administration.

BCA had in its amended constitution sent to CoA stated that any member desirous of getting elected to BCA office-bearer’s post should have been a member of the association during the three years preceding the year in which election is held. The proposed constitution further stated that the candidate should have been a member of any one elected sub-committee including grounds and infrastructure committee, finance committee, press publicity committee for full one term.‘The conditions will apply for the first election held after Supreme Court order dated August 9, 2018 to ensure that the office-bearer elected should be having experience of working for one full term in any one elected sub-committee for the smooth conduct/efficient running of the association. From subsequent elections onwards the elected sub-committees to be considered for eligibility criteria for office bearers will be grounds and infrastructure committee, finance committee and press publicity committee,’ the proposed constitution says.‘The members who have not been elected in the previous sub-committees are mandatorily required to fulfil the above eligibility conditions by getting elected in the revised list of subcommittees in the amended constitution,’ BCA’s amended constitutions says. “The CoA has proposed that this entire criteria should be deleted which means that any BCA member without having experience of any sub-committee would be able to contest for the office-bearer’s post,” a BCA official said.“The CoA’s proposal will be discussed in the managing committee and then the BCA may write to them again. There are other minor changes proposed by the CoA but our proposal of keeping the BCA secretaries and treasurer as final signing authority has been accepted,” the official added.
