Meritorious students awarded with the Jyoti Fellowship

A total of  222 meritorious students were awarded with the Jyoti Fellowship on Tuesday  at the JRD Tata Auditorium, organised by the Tata Steel Foundation.  They were given away  with certificates and school bags as a token of appreciation.   Sanjay Rajoria, General Manager, Jharia Division, Tata Steel, was the Chief Guest of the occasion. Sharing his views during the occasion he first  congratulated all the students who received the Jyoti Fellowship for their remarkable achievements. The Fellowship is a commendable initiative carried out by the Tata Steel Foundation, which not only motivates students but also encourages them to pursue higher education to build a strong career path for a better future. As I acknowledge this significant accomplishment of the awardees, I urge them to work harder and grow into responsible citizens in the coming years, he added.   Others present at the event were Narendra Kumar Gupta, Chief (Jamadoba Group), Col. Bhawani Singh Nirwan, Head (Administration), Sujit Kumar Jha, Senior Area Manager (Security), Tata Steel, and Rajesh Kumar, Unit Lead, Tata Steel Foundation Jamadoba and Pankaj Kumar D ad HOD HRBP.   In 2023-24, a total of 771 students were awarded the Jyoti Fellowship, with 534 belonging to Scheduled Castes and 237 to Scheduled Tribes. Geographically, 233 candidates are from Jamadoba, 276 from Sijua, 163 from Tundi, and the remaining 99 from the East Tundi area. Out of the total 771 students, 301 are males and 470 are females.   The Jyoti Fellowship initiative is the flagship project of the Tata Steel Foundation, started in 1974-75. It aims to support meritorious students from backward communities from the seventh class up to post-graduation. The Fellowship provides financial assistance to students according to their class level to help them in their studies and enable them to achieve their educational and career aspirations.
