  • | Thursday | 25th April, 2024

Amid preparations for the Lok Sabha General Elections 2024, a viral news claim on social media suggests that individuals failing to vote will face a deduction of 350 rupees from their bank accounts. However, the Election Commission of India has refuted this claim, stating that no such decision has been made.   District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Bokaro,  Vijaya Jadhav, clarified on Wednesday that "this news is entirely false." She emphasized that the Election Commission of India has not taken any such decision. DC Jadhav urged the public not to pay heed to such rumors and cautioned against sharing or spreading such misinformation.   DC Jadhav further emphasized that voting is a fundamental right of citizens. To raise awareness about voting, a robust awareness campaign is being conducted by the Sweep Campaign Committee in Bokaro. She called upon all voters to participate in the democratic process by casting their votes on the upcoming May 25, 2024.   The Election Commissions stance aims to dispel any confusion or misinformation regarding voting procedures and penalties, ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
