Medics boycott classes demanding water and electricity in medical college

  • | Tuesday | 7th May, 2024

Boy and girl medicos of the Medinirai medical college at Pokhraha in Daltonganj today boycotted their classes.    Their boycott was in protest against the acute and severe crises of water and electricity in the campus.    The medical college is badly languishing for water and electricity. There is hardly any day when water and electricity do not cause hardships to the students.    There live in the campus around 100 faculties and their family members who are equally badly affected by the water and electricity crisis here.    Boy and girl medicos said they are buying drinking water while for their daily chores like wash room, bath and some minor washings the acute scarcity of water stares at them.    The mess incharge of the medical college here has opted for pattal plates for breakfast, lunch and dinner of the students  in place of crockery just for water as dish washing requires a lot of water and the mess has not much of the water.    The principal of the medical college Dr Kamender Prasad has admitted that there is a severe crisis of water and electricity in the campus.    He said the municipal corporation gives 2 water tankers only and that too once in a day which is very insufficient.    The principal said he has written a letter to the city commissioner Md Jawed Hussain today  urging him to provide 5 water tankers in morning and 5 water tankers in evening to tide over the water crisis in the campus of the medical college.    The city commissioner told this correspondent today that the municipal corporation would be planning to press in 5 water tankers in the morning and 5 water tankers in the evening in this campus.    Boy and girl medicos said the college management is hardly any serious about this problem as had the management been any concerned about it before their act to boycott classes would not have occurred today.    Medics said the problem of erratic electricity supply is perennial where there are the issues of voltage fluctuations, erratic supply and power cuts for longer hours at night and in day too.
