Water storage capacity up by 39 lakh litre in Ahmedabad

The water storage capacity in Ahmedabad district alone has been increased by 39 lakh litre due to the water conservation drive run by the Gujarat government. The state-wide drive was launched by the CM Vijay Rupani from Bharuch on Gujarat foundation day on May 01 with the target to increase the water storage capacity by 135 crore litre water in state. The workers engaged in the works of deepening of lakes and desilting of reservoirs have excavated 3.9 lakh cubic meter area and that will increase the storage capacity of water in equal amount." "The local administration is going to start 80 more new works by May 20 and that will add up to the total storage capacity of different reservoirs. Ahmedabad district collector Vikrant Pandey made the detailed presentation of the ongoing drive.

The water storage capacity in Ahmedabad district alone has been increased by 39 lakh litre due to the water conservation drive run by the Gujarat government. The state government released the details about the works carried out in Ahmedabad district when the month-long drive named as Sujalam Sufalam Jal Sanchay Abhiyan reached at the midpoint on Monday. The state-wide drive was launched by the CM Vijay Rupani from Bharuch on Gujarat foundation day on May 01 with the target to increase the water storage capacity by 135 crore litre water in state. Senior minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama reviewed the work going on in Ahmedabad district and said, "As many as 411 sites were identified for drive in Ahmedabad district and city, out of which work is under progress at 176 sites and many of other have completed. The workers engaged in the works of deepening of lakes and desilting of reservoirs have excavated 3.9 lakh cubic meter area and that will increase the storage capacity of water in equal amount." "The local administration is going to start 80 more new works by May 20 and that will add up to the total storage capacity of different reservoirs. This drive will decrease the burden over the Narmada Project so far the dependence for the water in the state is concerned.," the minister added. Ahmedabad district collector Vikrant Pandey made the detailed presentation of the ongoing drive. Pandey said, "More than 350 vehicles including tractors and bulldozers have been used for the civil works." CM IN ACTION The CM Vijay Rupani also reviewed the work through video conference from Gandhinagar on Monday and talked with workers and other stake holders engaged in drive.
