  • | Thursday | 14th June, 2018

After incidents of schools handing over a leaving certificate to students were reported, the education department has asked District Education Officers across the state to initiate an inquiry and take action against such schools. Naresh Shah, President, All Gujarat Parents Association, in his letter had mentioned; "some of the self-financed schools were giving LC to students, threatening them and eventually involving in physical torture. In April, seeing an increase in number of students being given LCs, All Gujarat Parents Association had written to the Chairman of Gujarat State Child Protection Society apprising them of the situation. The Deputy Director of Primary Education SP Chaudhary has written to the DEOs to initiate an inquiry against such schools and to inform Gujarat State Child Protection Society about further discourse. However, no action was taken till date despite a complaint being made to 1098 helpline.
