Bhanushali Gujarat Ahmedabad Former MLA Jayantion Friday resigned as the Vice President ofBJP after a Surat-based woman, 21, filed an application with police accusing him of raping her on several occasions. Bhanushali, 53, who was MLA from Kutch’s Abdasa constituency between 2007 and 2012, has denied the allegation in the resignation letter sent to State BJP President Jitu Vaghani and claimed that it was a conspiracy to malign his image.State BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya said: “Gujarat BJP President Jitu Vaghani has accepted the resignation. Law will take its own course in the matter.” Surat Police Commissioner Satish Sharma, while confirming the woman’s application, said: “We have forwarded the application to Surat city’s Kapodra police station for further action.” The victim, in her application, has said she wanted to pursue a career in fashion designing after clearing Class 12.She was introduced to Bhanushali in 2017 and he assured of helping her secure admission in a reputed Ahmedabad-based fashion designing institute. She was called toseveral times and raped by Bhanushali on several occasions, the application said. She has also alleged that one of the secretaries of the former MLA also shot a video of the act on his mobile phone with the intention of blackmailing her if she did not give in to his demands.The application has alleged that one occasion she was raped in the room of a hotel near the airport while on one occasion Bhanushali forced himself on her at an isolated place on the SG Highway while the driver and secretary kept a watch with knife and pistol in hand. The application says that on April 24 a few men came to her house and forcibly made her sign a letter, the draft of which said she did not know Jayanti Bhanushali. She said Bhanushali sent police officials to threaten her and keep her mouth shut.
