AHMEDABAD: Sola police booked a doctor for causing death of a woman by negligence a year after she died due to loss of blood during delivery. Shockingly, the police have also mentioned the suspicious role of a doctor of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation-run V S Hospital in the case.Vishnu Desai, complainant and husband of the deceased woman, and a resident of Ghatlodia, told police that he had taken his wife Krishna to a private hospital - Shraddha Maternity And Nursing Home in Ranip, where Dr Rajan Patel, gynaecologist, in September, last year."When the doctor suggested that my wife had to undergo a surgery to deliver the kid, I asked him if we need blood during the surgery. Then the doctor told me that my wife's reports were normal and she would not need any blood transfusion," said Desai.He stated further, "My wife had undergone surgery on September 1 after which the doctor asked me to supply two bottles of blood. In the evening, my wife complained of numbness in her legs and later her condition started deteriorating."Desai said that he had wanted to take her to another private hospital but the doctor asked him to take her to VS Hospital stressing that he had already talked with people there. "My wife was then taken to the VS Hospital in an ambulance. At that time, she kept saying that the doctor had done some mistake during surgery due to which she was feeling numb," said Desai.He alleged that Patel and a doctor in VS conversed in English and he did not understand what they said. After a while, he was informed that his wife had died. Later on basis of postmortem report and that of a panel of VS Hospital, an inquiry was initiated after which the FIR was registered against the doctor.
